My name is Robin and I am the Education Channel Editor for the Blog Island Network and the voice behind Her Education Blog.  I have a BA in History and a MA in Education.  I was a teacher for six years before I had my son in December of 2007.  Now I am primarily a stay at home mom although I am also tutoring and writing. In an attempt to remain focused  I’m going to try to stick to a schedule of topics.

I plan on reviewing books or discussing something related to reading two days a week.  I absolutely love to read and even as the history teacher I had possibly the best classroom library in the school.  Because I love to read I have become pretty good at being able to tell which student will like which book.  I hope to bring a little of that to my blog.

I’m also very interested in how education is being handled by our government.  I will be discussing education topics that are in the news two days a week.  I’m sure until November I will be preoccupied with the elections but I will play with other concerns as they grab my attention.

Then for the part of me that is easily distracted once a week I’ll be giving tips for either children, parents, or other teachers.  A little something for everyone, I hope.  If you have specific education questions feel free to email me at EducationEditor@hotmail.com and I’ll feature your question on my Tip Day!

I think, at a child’s birth, if a mother could ask a fairy godmother to endow it with the most useful gift, that gift should be curiosity.
